The First Nintendo Switch 2 Leak Of 2025 Shows Components & Upscaling Patent Filing

New Year, New Switch 2 Rumours

On Thursday, a patent filed in 2023 by Nintendo has come to light and alleged pictures of Nintendo Switch 2 interior components have appeared on the internet.

It has now been zero days since the latest Nintendo Switch 2 rumours. On Thursday, a patent filed by Nintendo in 2023 has surfaced detailing the company’s plans to use upscaling technology (DLSS) for the Switch 2. For the uninitiated, DLSS is a NVIDIA graphics upscaling innovation that deploys AI to upscale game graphics significantly by creating additional frames to improve image quality, and the new patent (posted by Eurogamer) suggests the Switch 2 will use DLSS style AI upscaling.

Aside from the new patent, another Nintendo Switch 2 leak has hit the internet, and photos of components (namely the console motherboard) has been posted to a Nintendo Switch 2 Reddit thread, and users claim the photos are authentic. This is not even the second time this has happened. Switch 2 rumours and leaks have been flying around the internet for months, with the latest leaks inferring the Switch 2 will feature joy-con handles that include an extra trigger-like button and third party sales websites allegedly showing what potential Switch 2 screen protectors look like.

It’s worth noting that the photos posted to Reddit appear to confirm the details behind the official Switch 2 patent that was unearthed this week, as NVIDIA hardware is present in the unconfirmed photos of what Reddit describes is the Switch 2 motherboard. These photos would also confirm previous rumours that the Nintendo Switch 2 is powered by NVIDIA architecture, and confirm that the Switch 2 would ship with a second USB port located at the top of the device.

While speculation can be compelling, NVIDIA and Nintendo have not commented on the legitimacy of the many leaks or rumours surrounding the successor to the Nintendo Switch, so fans should take all unconfirmed news with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made.
