Apex Legends and the Gundam universe have officially come together for a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration dropping on March 10th.
The update will bring new gameplay, weapons, map updates, and cosmetics. Starting with the map Broken Moon, which is now updated with destroyed Mobile Suits scattered around the map, giant climbable Wing Gundam statues, and ships battling overhead. Alongside the updated map is the Buster Rifle, which is obtainable from care packages scattered around the map. The Buster Rifle lets you launch upwards for aerial recon, where you can then tag every enemy you see and then unleash laser beams that cut through cover and then explode on impact.
Combatants can also take advantage of Bit Staves, which are shields that absorb damage while also pushing through enemy fire. If you don’t want any front-line action, then utilize the drone command feature to patrol, scan, and attack anyone who dares to trespass with ill intent.
Going past the new weapon and updated map, there are now new Gundam abilities and new wild cards. Epyon’s Lash now has an ability that magnetically pulls enemies. Heavyarms Salvo can now mark enemies for a missile hit after so many attacks. Zero Sacrifice will now trigger a self-destruct explosion on death which damages nearby enemeies. And finally, Zero Rebirth now lets players enter the Void after being downed, exiting leaves players with 1 HP but also the boon of temporary invulnerability and health regen.
Players can also be excited because the cosmetic additions will include the standard Legendary cosmetics, Gundam-inspired skins, a Limited Edition Gunpla drop, etc. And as a bonus, there are also medals to be earned during the event for exclusive rewards located in the reward shop. Plus, as one last treat, Apex now has exclusive real-world Gundams for sale, which include the RG1/144 FREEDOM GUNDAM -APEX LEGENDS Crypto Ver-, RG 1/144 WING GUNDAM ZERO EW -APEX LEGENDS Valkyrie Ver-, and the RG 1/144 GUNDAM EPYON -APEX LEGENDS Alter Ver-. Each of these kits will be available for pre-ordering on March 18th.
Apex Legends: Breach is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via the EA App, Epic Game Store, and Steam, with the new update coming later on March 10th.
