Assassin’s Creed Shadows will finally launch its planned DLC in September, adding numerous quality-of-life updates, and players can advance time in-game.
In a new post on its official site, Ubisoft has pulled back the curtain on the promised Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC – Claws of Awaji, which was promoted as a pre-order bonus (if you pre-purchased Shadows, you should have a free pass for Claws of Awaji) before the base Shadows title hit shelves.
On top of the new Claws of Awaji expansion, a full Summer road map has been dragged from the shadows. The roadmap details Ubisoft’s commitment to continuing development on Assassin’s Creed Shadows and improving the game with myriad quality-of-life improvements. An official trailer showcasing the DLC has been released, and it can be seen below (courtesy of IGN).
In Claws of Awaji, players will be tasked with exploring a new mysterious island called Awaji and retrieving treasure from the island as part of the excursion. New enemies will hunt the player as they explore the new ~10-hour campaign, and to deal with the new enemies, Naoe can deploy a new brand of violence against would-be assailants with the new Bo staff weapon. Fans will be able to explore the new expansion when it drops on September 16.
Aside from the DLC release date and details, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also dropping solid quality-of-life changes with its Summer roadmap to make adventuring around feudal Japan a tad easier. Starting on July 29, fans will be able to activate New Game+, and the level cap will be notably increased, and knowledge ranks will hit new highs with ranks 9 and 10 becoming available to unlock. At the beginning of September, fans will finally be able to advance time in-game by napping, and important time-based events will be far easier to accomplish.

While so much has been revealed, Ubisoft is still keeping a few tricks up its sleeve, and the roadmap has a surprise element in it called “special collaborations.” No ‘special collaboration’ has been announced yet, but Ubisoft will make sure fans know when they feel the time is right. The new Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC, Claws of Awaji, launches on September 16, and fans can check out the full roadmap here.
