Team ASOBI’s next game in the Astro portfolio, Astro Bot, is releasing today and fans and reviewers have been calling it the next great platformer.
Team ASOBI’s newest title featuring PlayStation’s adorable mascot, ASTRO BOT, launches today and has already received critical acclaim. As a matter of fact, it currently sits as the best-received game on Metacritic for 2024, with a 94% over 113 critical reviews. CGMagazine’s 10/10 review of the platformer calls it “incredibly fun, incredibly creative and an incredible love letter to the history of PlayStation games.”

Luckily, fans can pick up a copy and get in on the conversation right now, ASTRO BOT is officially out. The new platformer from Team ASOBI doubles as a celebration of everything PlayStation, ranging from their many hit series to ASTRO himself whipping together some of his best cosplay (it is Comic-Con season) featuring Sony’s biggest franchises. It’s worth mentioning Sony has just pulled the multimillion-dollar to-develop title Concord from shelves, the small team-developed ASTRO BOT has arrived with a very different outlook from fans and critics. The consensus is the game is good, and it’s something everyone wants to play.

- Dash, swing, and rocket-punch your way through this journey, with all-new power-ups.
When asked about the sudden excitement surrounding the new Sony mascot, Team ASOBI Creative Director, Nicolas Doucet said ““It’s a really interesting question because I don’t think we fully realize it yet. When you say it’s iconic, we know there’s excitement about the new game. It seemed like when we announced it, people were hoping for something bigger after they played it. I think it’s because it happens organically. It’s the kind of thing you only realize once you look back.” Now fans can dive in on the action. That’s not all though, PlayStation has launched a new peripheral to mark the occasion, an ASTRO BOT-themed Dualsense 5 controller.
