After all these years, Ubisoft has finally come out with an update on the highly speculated remake of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, and it’s on its way.
Officially titled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, the news first appeared in a blog post on Ubisoft’s website, which did not provide many specifics about the remake itself. Ubisoft’s exact words are “Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new, but it’s worth repeating: “Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.” Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.” effectively confirming the theories and rumours fans of the game have been holding onto for years.

Alongside the confirmation of the Black Flag remake, Ubisoft also wrote about the other Assassin’s Creed projects in the works. Codename HEXE had a bit of news associated with it: it seems that it will be the next mainline game in the series that focuses on a pivotal point in history, offering a “unique, darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience.” The developers say they are taking their time with this one to deliver a product that matches their “ambitious vision.”
It also looks like Ubisoft is returning to the franchise’s multiplayer history by making a whole game around it. Monikered Codename INVICTUS, Ubisoft says that “it’s a new approach to multiplayer in the franchise, but it isn’t quite what the rumours have suggested. With player feedback at the heart of our approach, we’re exploring ways to bring the community in earlier so we can shape the experience together.” What INVICTUS is actually about is up for debate, but we know that it’s a PvP, so anyone’s best guess could have merit.

Aside from the main news, Ubisoft also mentioned that the live-action Netflix series is coming soon. Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will officially have its support discontinued this year after a less-than-successful launch. And finally, Assassin’s Creed: Unity has finally got a 60fps Update after years of fans asking for one. All in all, Ubisoft seems to be investing heavily into, arguably, its biggest franchise, and for good reason, everybody likes being a cool assassin.
