Even Before Launch, Black Myth: Wukong’s Benchmark Tool Dominates Steam

Black Myth: Wukong Preview - A Journey To The Unknown

Black Myth Wukong appears to be so popular that the benchmark test, released on Steam, already has more users than some AAA blockbuster games, and it’s not even out yet.

It’s important to note for the uninitiated a benchmark test is a downloadable software (like the game itself) program that allows gamers to test a certain title to determine if their current rig is capable of running the title by running a real-time rendering of an in-game sequence. Black Myth Wukong‘s benchmark test has reached a big peak today on Steam, and surprisingly, it is one of the most popular ‘titles’ on the platform. The kicker is the upcoming title has not been released yet, and it currently sits at #183 all-time peak players on the SteamDB player database.

Black Myth Wukong Benchmark Is Massive With Over 80,000 Users At Peak Today

What’s interesting is how this singular benchmark tool fares against games in the same genre. Black Myth Wukong is a soul-like title that hasn’t been released yet, and it has already garnered an audience worthy of an anticipated masterpiece. CGMagazine’s preview of the title says, “Everything I’ve seen so far, from the jaw-dropping visuals to the stylish combat to the rich world based on Journey to the West, has me counting down the days until it’s released.”

The Black Myth Wukong benchmark tool has surpassed the daily peak of every other souls-like in the genre aside from FromSoftware’s Elden Ring. The benchmark notably allows the player to view the stunning scenery present in the Game Science second title but also doesn’t show how well a certain rig will perform during heavier load sequences, namely combat.

The current recommended specs to run Black Myth Wukong listed on the Steam page are to have a processor up to snuff with an Intel Core i7-9700 or an AMD Ryzen 5 5500; have16 GB RAM, and a graphics card of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT / INTEL Arc A750 quality or better. A free 9 GB of space is also necessary.

Fans only have one more week to wait, as Black Myth Wukong launches on August 20 for Xbox Series S/X, PS5, and PC.
