Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Will Reportedly Skip Switch 2 at Launch

An Uncertain Release

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Will Reportedly Skip Switch 2 at Launch

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to launch later this year, but it reportedly won’t be ready for Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.

That’s according to Dealab’s billbil-kun, who has a history of accurately reporting things like leaks and release dates. Billbil-kun says they can “confirm” that the game won’t launch on Switch 2 when it launches on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. This is despite Call of Duty of Duty developers saying earlier this year that they’re “committed” to Nintendo Switch 2 releases, although they never mentioned Black Ops 7 specifically.

While Microsoft hasn’t said much, it seems incredibly likely the game will come to Switch 2 eventually, especially considering the console’s strong sales so far. But there’s even an extra factor here, as in 2023, as reported by VGC, Microsoft signed a “legally-binding” contract to bring Call of Duty games to Switch for the next ten years. This announcement did happen alongside the EU’s hearing on the Activision-Blizzard acquisition, as a way of
“bringing more choice to more players and more competition to the gaming market.”

To date there hasn’t actually been a Call of Duty game on Nintendo Switch, although other Activision games like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro have released on the platform.

Black Ops 7 was first announced with a lengthy cinematic trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase in June. The reveal trailer focused on psychological warfare, showing that players will be serving under the command of David Mason in this entry. While we’ve still yet to see a lot of details on gameplay, multiplayer, or zombies, those details will likely roll out in the near future, especially with events like Gamescom happening.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches in 2025 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
