A new leak has hit the internet, and this time a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 leak turned into a leaked reveal window on Xbox’s next-gen console.
According to a new leak that has hit the internet today, the next Call of Duty title will be released in 2026, and it will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. After the delay of fixes facing Black Ops 6 announced yesterday known CoD leaker, The Ghost of Hope, leaked to the internet the name of the next CoD. On top of that, the leaker suggests the title will be closer to “Modern Warfare 3 2.0” than a true sequel, and the release will not be made available for the PS4 and Xbox One generation of consoles. The leak was posted to The Ghost of Hope official X (formerly Twitter) account, and it can be seen below.
If the leak is correct, the new CoD will not feature backward compatibility with the previous generation of consoles in favour of the new and next-generation of PlayStation and Xbox systems. What’s interesting is the leak also mentions the Black Ops 6 delay mentioned earlier in the week, and suggests if the release of Warzone map, Verdansk, fails then there won’t be a “Warzone 3.” Another interesting notion in the leak is where The Ghost of Hope mentions “Being developed on Dev Kits for the Next Xbox”. It’s possible if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches in 2026, the next-gen Xbox could also launch in 2026 as well.

It’s important to note that although Xbox’s Sarah Bond teased the next-gen Xbox last year, and The Ghost of Hope is normally a ‘reliable’ leaker, fans should take all of the information presented here with a grain of salt. Xbox and Activision have yet to make an official announcement on any of the leaked information, so it shouldn’t be taken as fact until an official announcement is made.
