The annual Canadian Game Awards is making a big return in 2026, and the event will continue to celebrate the best in gaming with nominations now open.
For the past five years, The Canadian Game Awards has continued to host a celebration of everything video games for the calendar year. Each event serves fans a window that takes a look at the best gaming has to offer for the whole year, and for its sixth instalment, nominations have now opened. The Canadian Game Awards continues to shine a spotlight on the creativity, innovation, and talent within Canada’s video game industry, and instead of focusing on a global audience like bigger awards shows (like The Game Awards), CGA asks developers, publishers, content creators, and esports organizations from across Canada to submit their work for consideration. A trailer announcing the event can be seen below.
The 2026 Canadian Game Awards will recognize the best in gaming across a myriad of categories. This includes: Best Game, Best Art Direction, Best Esports Organization, Best Audio, Indie Game of the Year, and many more. Founder & Executive Producer of the Canadian Game Awards, Carl-Edwin Michel, says, “Canada is home to some of the most exciting game developers and creators in the world,” adding, “We’re thrilled to open nominations for 2026 and look forward to celebrating the passion and innovation that fuel this incredible industry.”
Like every year, the CGAs have deadlines and time frames to adhere to as per the event’s rules and conditions. CGA nominations are open until November 30th, 2025, and only titles that have been released between January 1st to December 31st, 2025, will be considered eligible. Fans who want to nominate a title can head straight to the official site and fill out a small form for nomination.

The Canadian Game Awards ceremony will take place on February 21, 2026, at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto. It will take place alongside the Eh! Game Expo, which is a part of the CGAs, and fans who want more information regarding the big event can head to the official site.
