Striving since May 2003, EVE Online is a spaceship MMORPG where players across 7,800 star systems can play however they wish, whether they are discovering and looting ancient sites as an Explorer or causing havoc as a Space Pirate. From exploring space to participating in a PvP and PvE battle, the long-running title features 350+ ships, a variety of activities and professions, and a thriving economy with over 1 million daily Market Transactions.

One of the key features that capsuleers can look forward to in EVE Online’s latest expansion, Catalyst, is the new resource, Prismaticite. The mysterious Prismaticite was discovered during a short anomaly after a failed experiment on the Drifter Gate, which caused a Hyperspace Fracture to materialize across New Eden. Prismaticite can be processed into a random mineral in variable quantities. Alongside the new ore, a Phase Anchor technology, engineered by the Outer Ring Excavations (ORE), has been uncovered to stabilize the fractured asteroids for coordinated mining.

With the new Prismaticite ore, EVE Online’s Executive Producer, Snorri Árnason, shared: “At face value, ore may seem unremarkable, yet it is the hidden catalyst of EVE’s biggest dramas. Creation, conflict, destruction, and rebirth – it’s the center of the eternal cycle of New Eden. But where valuable resources appear, so do rival capsuleers, turning mining operations into contested battlegrounds. Players will once again field the mightiest mining ships in pursuit of extraordinary resources, as well as the brand new Pioneer and Odysseus when Catalyst launches on November 18.”

Alongside the new ore, there will be plenty of new features for capsuleers to look forward to in EVE Online: Catalyst. The features included are:

  • ‘Pioneer’ Mining Destroyer – Designed for accessibility, the ‘Pioneer’ Mining Destroyer can be piloted by Alpha clones and upgraded by Omegas, providing a gateway to EVE Online industrial gameplay.
  • ‘Odysseus’ Exploration Command Ship – A long-range vessel designed for deep-space exploration, allowing veteran explorers to lead extensive missions into undiscovered regions.
  • Mining UI/UX Overhaul – The mining cycles have become faster and more immersive, featuring a new scanning overlay and a 2D ore availability map. The 2D map features an improved system visualization, clear jump range, and dual data overlays to provide accurate navigation and insights for exploration. Both the 2D and 3D will have an ore availability indicator, enhanced data readability, and customizable scales.
  • Mining Mutaplasmids and Critical Hits – Resource extraction becomes more unpredictable and rewarding with new customization and a yield-boosting system.
  • PLEX Transaction Logs – Brings transparency to the in-game economy through the Personal Plex histories.
  • Carrier Balancing and Visual Refresh – Empire carriers will receive significant balance adjustments and updated visuals based on player feedback.

As mining become the main focus of the Catalyst expansion, EVE Online’s Creative Director, Bergur Finnbogason, has said: “Mining is the foundation of all activity in EVE, and with Catalyst, it becomes the forefront of power. We’re reenergizing the mining experience, making it far more dynamic, social, and rewarding. To master the universe, you must master its materials. Whether you build or destroy, it all begins with ore.”

EVE Online: Catalyst, will release on November 18, 2025. For future and returning capsuleers, players can learn more about the expansion on EVE News and download the game on PC and Mac via the website, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
