CCP Games Reveals EVE Online: Legion Expansion at EVE Fanfest 2025

At EVE Fanfest 2025, CCP Games has just announced their latest expansion, EVE Online: Legion and a slew of updates and additions that come with it.

MMO EVE Online is currently hosting its biggest event of the year, EVE Fanfest. After being on hiatus last year, Fanfest 2025 proves to be moving full steam ahead with the first of many announcements, EVE Online: Legion, coming to the game on May 27, 2025!

So what does this mean for EVE players? First, Legion is bringing balance changes to cruiser and capital ships, plus a reworked map experience. For the pilots out there, Omega clones will also be able to gain more skill points through the AIR Career Program. This was all done in partnership with the Council of Stellar Management. EVE Online is always working with players, and the CSM is “a player advocacy group, consisting of 10 members democratically elected by the players, along with 2 additional members selected by CCP and voted in the top 20, to advise and assist CCP in the continuous development of EVE Online.”

Other changes being implemented during Legion include greater control, new exploration opportunities, and strategic flexibility while managing and developing nullsec space through the Equinox Sovereignty Suite. There are also changes to how players can expand and establish their influence, like “fortifying systems, exploiting resources, and shaping the future borders of power.” And we can’t forget the new Corporation Palatte, which allows you to assign colours and designs to your Corps to mark you and your allies on the battlefield.

EVE Online: Legion is also bringing with it two brand-new warships: The Babaroga and the Sarathiel. Starting with the Babaroga, this warship is a Triglavian Tech II marauder dedicated to those who are meticulous in battle. According to CCP, the Babarogha “channels devastating entropic disintegrators and activates a bastion module that delivers game-changing subcapital DPS.”

Alternatively, the Sarathiel “rains down long-range capital-class destruction with massive bonuses to projectile damage and fall-off.” This Angel Cartel dreadnought is the only dreadnought capable of using a Capital Micro Jump Drive in siege mode, and promises to be key in quick frontline battles.

Of course, CCP Games wouldn’t stop there. EVE Online: Legion will also bring Freelance Jobs to the MMO. These player-created jobs are a new system that promises to allow capsuleers to further immerse themselves in New Eden, becoming a part of player-run corporations in their own way. Some examples of what these Freelance Jobs might look like are “transporting critical supplies, diving into combat, or masterminding industrial operations.”

“With Legion, we’re opening a direct path to joining the fight in gaming’s largest war: the record-breaking space-spanning conflicts that can only be found in EVE Online. Freelance Jobs give anyone, regardless of experience, the power to fleet up, earn rewards, and shape the future of New Eden,” said EVE Online’s Creative Director, Bergur Finnbogason.
