CES 2026: ASUS ROG Refreshes Its Gaming Lineup With Slimmer Zephyrus Laptops and New TUF Hardware

ASUS used the stage at CES 2026 to unveil a major refresh of its gaming laptop lineup, highlighted by slimmer ROG Zephyrus models and a rugged new TUF gaming entry.

ASUS brought a wide range of new technology to CES 2026, but one of the most distinctive reveals was the new ROG Zephyrus DUO. The workstation-class laptop eliminates the secondary display above the keyboard and adopts a design more closely aligned with the ASUS Zenbook DUO. Its internal components have also been updated to match the rest of the Zephyrus family.

The system now houses an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU and a next-generation Intel Core Ultra processor (Panther Lake), cooled by a robust liquid-metal and vapour-chamber thermal solution. The main display is a 3K OLED panel comparable to that found on the Zephyrus G14, offering strong colour accuracy for content creators who need to edit video on the go. And, frankly, having double the screen real estate without compromising performance is hard not to appreciate.

ASUS also refreshed the iconic ROG Zephyrus G14, which will be offered in two distinct versions for 2026. The 14-inch favourite will be available in an AMD configuration, model GA403, powered by a next-generation Ryzen AI processor, or an Intel version, model GU405, featuring a Core Ultra chip.

Both variants include a 3K OLED display with a 120-hertz refresh rate and a rapid 0.2-millisecond response time. ASUS has kept the chassis highly portable at just 0.63 inches thick and 3.31 pounds, while still delivering serious graphical performance. The Intel model tops out with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, while the AMD version offers up to an RTX 5060.

For those seeking a larger laptop experience, the new Zephyrus G16 delivers greater performance without sacrificing portability. Despite being slightly thinner than its smaller sibling at 0.59 inches, the 16-inch model can be configured with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU.

ASUS ROG pairs that graphical power with a 2.5K OLED panel featuring a smooth 240-hertz refresh rate, making the G16 a strong option for competitive shooters who do not want to carry a bulky machine. It also retains the signature Slash Lighting on the lid, allowing users to customize patterns that add a personal touch to the sleek aluminum chassis.

Moving away from the ROG brand, the TUF Gaming A14 makes a strong case as a compact, travel-ready battlestation that packs considerable power into a slim frame. Built to military-grade standards, the 14-inch laptop runs on an AMD Strix Halo processor and supports up to 100 watts of USB-C charging, making it easy to top up away from a wall outlet.

ASUS pairs that hardware with a 2.5K display featuring a 165-hertz refresh rate, along with a 1080p infrared camera for Windows Hello. The result is a machine that wraps modern conveniences in a chassis designed to withstand rough handling. Based on early impressions, it stands out as one of my favourite announcements from this year’s CES, with the potential of this compact system proving especially impressive.

On the lighter side of PC gaming, the new TUF Gaming TM500 offers a robust option for users short on space who still want maximum performance from a compact setup. The 15-litre tower does not skimp on power, with configurations featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 260 processor and graphics options that include NVIDIA RTX 50-series or AMD Radeon RX 9000-series cards.

The system reflects the brand’s rugged ethos through military-grade testing and features a clean Solar Eclipse Gray finish that suits more subdued setups. With support for up to 64 GB of DDR5 memory and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, it is positioned as a durable, future-proof entry point into PC gaming. Despite its specifications, the desktop is strikingly small in person. Hats off to ASUS for delivering such an impressive design in such a compact frame.

For those looking to maximize a desktop setup in the most eye-catching way possible, the new ROG G1000 desktop is designed to turn heads. The towering chassis features a Tri-Zone thermal design that separates components into three distinct cooling chambers, ensuring optimal airflow for high-end hardware such as the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card.

The striking feature here is the new AniMe Holo display, a spinning holographic element inside the case that creates fluid, animated visuals reminiscent of Zephyrus laptop lids, but on a much larger scale. Designed with maintenance in mind, the G1000 uses standard-sized components and tool-free access, making upgrades straightforward despite its futuristic, X-ray-style aesthetic.

At CES 2026, ASUS also made announcements about their Zenbook line, ProArt line and a new collaboration between ASUS and Kojima Productions. Follow CGM for news, features and videos from the Consumer Electronics Show 2026 show floor.
