CES 2026: MSI Unveils High-Performance Gaming Laptops and New Modern Series

MSI’s CES 2026 lineup reflects a push to make extreme performance feel more portable while everyday computing becomes more capable.

On the gaming side, MSI showcased the new Raider 16 Max HX, a machine designed for raw power. The company says the laptop delivers up to 300 watts of total system power, with 175 watts allocated to the GPU and 125 watts to the CPU, enabled by its new OverBoost Ultra technology. To manage thermals, the Raider uses a redesigned cooling system called Cooler Boost Trinity, which draws air inward to keep the chassis cool while venting heat through five exhaust ports. The laptop also features a 240-hertz OLED display and a tool-free upgrade design that allows gamers to swap RAM and storage using a simple push-and-lift mechanism.

If you are like me and want the thinnest laptop possible that can still handle gaming, the new Stealth 16 AI+ may be just the thing, offering a balance of portability and performance. MSI says the chassis measures just 16.65 millimetres at its thinnest point, yet it still houses an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series graphics.

MSI achieved this balance with a new tri-path cooling design that improves airflow efficiency. Based on the breakdown shown, there appears to be significant engineering to make it all come together. The laptop retains a premium feel thanks to its magnesium-aluminum alloy body and features a 90-watt-hour battery that can charge to 50 percent in just 30 minutes, according to MSI.

MSI also refreshed its tactical shooter-inspired lineup with the Crosshair 16 Max HX. The updated design leans heavily into a mecha aesthetic, featuring laser-engraved patterns on the metal lid. The laptop is significantly slimmer than previous models while still delivering up to 200 watts of total system power and boasting a striking new design. It includes a 165-hertz OLED display and a 24-zone RGB keyboard with translucent keys, catering to gamers who want a bold look without sacrificing screen quality.

Since not everyone wants or needs the power gaming laptops provide, MSI introduced the Modern 16S AI+ and Modern 14S AI+ for everyday users. The laptops are positioned as reliable, affordable options for students and office workers.

They feature Intel Core Ultra 7 processors and include practical touches such as a smudge-resistant keyboard and a built-in RJ45 ethernet port, a rarity in modern thin-and-light laptops. With military-grade durability certifications and EPEAT Gold ratings, the models are designed to withstand daily use.
