Today at Computex 2024, ASUS brought on a slew of laptop announcements, including the brand-new ASUS TUF gaming laptop line.
TUF is ASUS’ most affordable gaming laptop line, and at Computex, the company made waves with some big announcements regarding the devices. The new ASUS TUF A14 and A16 gaming laptops will be outfitted with up to a next-gen AMD processor and laptop GPUs from NVIDIA and are built with an all-new ultraportable chassis.
At Computex, everyone has their minds on AI, and ASUS has made sure that no gamer is left behind. Both the ASUS TUF A14 and TUF A16 are equipped with next-gen AMD processors with 12 cores, 24 threads, and a built-in NPU. The NPU is capable of 50 TOPS of AI performance, to be paired with AMD Ryzen AI. This means that users will be able to make great use of Copilot and more.
AI also comes into play with their NVIDIA GeForce RTX laptop GPUs. These devices will be able to take on new tasks and accelerations in what ASUS says is “over 500 AI-powered games and applications — photo and video editing, image generation, programming and more” with the NVIDIA RTX AI platform.
The next-gen AMD chips paired with the NVIDIA RTX GPUs allow for the fastest AI experiences only available on the NVIDIA RTX AI platform. This brings features like DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction to the forefront of the ASUS TUF A14 and A16.
Both devices also come outfitted with a 2.5K 165 Hz NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible display, making the new TUF gaming laptop line more competitive than ever.
Computex 2024: ASUS TUF A14 Gaming Laptop

The most notable of these announcements is the ASUS TUF A14, which is the first time the TUF line will come in the 14” form factor. At only 1.46 kg and 1.69 cm thick, the TUF A14 aims to be ultraportable while remaining ultra-powerful. The A14 supports up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 laptop GPU with a 100 W maximum TGP, boasting that is higher than many competitors.
ASUS didn’t stop there, thinking about upgradability in their gaming device as well, adding two M.2 2280 SSD slots for additional storage. The ASUS TUF A14 is also outfitted with dual-channel LPDDR5X memory and USB-C power delivery.
Computex 2024: ASUS TUF A16 Gaming Laptop
Just a little bit thicker than the A14 at 1.79cm, the ASUS TUF A16 still remains portable for gamers who want a bit more display real estate. The A16 comes with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU and the latest next-gen AMD processor with a 50 TOPS NPU. The GPU brings the A16 up to 321 TOPS for ultimate AI performance, not to mention those are pretty great specs for a gaming laptop. Combined, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX and next-gen AMD chip bring the A16 to a total capability of 402 TOPS of AI performance.

What else new in the ASUS TUF A16 gaming laptop this year is thinner chassis and improved cooling. The A16 features a full-width heatsink plus exhaust vents that cover the entire rear of the device. There are also two second-generation Arc Flow fans working away to keep a surfaced temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.
As for pricing and availability, unfortunately, 5he ASUS TUF A14 will not be coming to Canada in the coming months, but the TUF A16 will be available in Canada in Q3 2024, starting at $2199.
