Crunchyroll and Kodansha revealed the finale for BLUE LOCK season 2 will consist of an hour-long episode to close out this action-packed arc.
While the next FIFA World Cup is not until 2026, BLUE LOCK has kept both soccer and anime fans on their toes. As the second season is about to wrap up soon sadly, Crunchyroll and Kodansha announced the season 2 finale will be an hour-long episode. This final episode will air on December 28, 2024, at its usual time. A new key art poster was also revealed for the “Blue Lock vs. U-20 Japan” arc.
The second season is currently available to stream worldwide exclusively on Crunchyroll. This hour-long season finale will air on December 28 at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET. Studio 8bit produces the anime series. BLUE LOCK season 2 is directed by Yuji Haibara (The Slime Diaries), with character designs by Kenji Tanabe and music by Jun Murayama.
The second season delves into the next stage for Isagi Yoichi in the Blue Lock soccer program. 35 players are left in the battle royale-style sporting program, and the only thing standing in the way of the program getting cancelled is Japan’s very own U-20 National Team. Tensions are rising as old rivals have to team up in the Blue Lock XI, and match their egos to keep their program alive.

So far, the series has been heating up with various combos that fans will be delighted to see. This season covers one match, but it is a pivotal one. With so much hope riding on the Blue Lock team winning, the different personalities and old grudges have to be buried. Even family relationships have to be put aside. For Isagi, it means he must find all the possible puzzle pieces in order to make himself useful for the team, and score a goal for himself.
Here is the official synopsis for the series:
“Japan’s desire for World Cup glory leads the Japanese Football Association to launch a new rigorous training program to find the national team’s next striker. Three hundred high school players are pitted against each other for the position, but only one will come out on top. Who among them will be the striker to usher in a new era of Japanese soccer?”
