With less than a week until The Final Shape‘s release, a large amount of the expansion has accidentally leaked on the internet and Destiny 2 forums are running away with it.
Destiny 2 fans need to stay vigilant over the next five days heading up to the release of The Final Shape, as today the entire expansion was accidentally dropped via update on some players. Many fans have run to the D2 subreddit to express their experiences with what has transpired over the past 24 hours, with many reports suggesting the same thing, they were able to play the expansion early. Other fan reports have suggested this isn’t the case, however, as the content may have been ‘accessible’ but not fully playable.
While many of the fan experiences detailed on Reddit have given some information about the expansion, luckily most posters have either refrained from posting story spoilers, or as one user, FKDotFitzgerald puts it “Keep in mind there are no major story leaks yet. I’m in the Bungie leaks discord and they haven’t found anything big yet.” While no direct leaks will be posted here, fans should note links in this article can lead to spoilers.
User Cupcake_0f_Doom posted their experience on the forum site, which has included uploaded screenshots, but it still only shows barebones details on the expansion. The user states “It made me run the first couple of new light missions until it let me get to the tower. The first things I noticed was it defaulted me to 1900 power & the season pass was updated. Once I got to the tower & talked to a few people, it let me launch a mission into the Pale Heart of the Traveler.”
While it appears the leaks are real and widespread, Destiny 2 social media, Bungie, and Sony have stayed completely silent thus far about the leaks as of this post. The latest Destiny 2 news Guardians have received is Keith David’s message to fans following his casting as Commander Zavala, taking over for the late Lance Reddick.
Fans should note that all spoilers and leaks should be taken with a grain of salt until Sony or Bungie makes The Final Shape’s full release or an official announcement. Fans can head to Reddit to read the conversation, but be warned, there could be serious spoilers for a decade-long payoff.
