Hatred, But Upscaled

Diablo IV Has Been Confirmed To Get a Big PS5 Pro Upgrade

With Vessel of Hatred launching next week, Diablo IV has confirmed that the title will receive PS5 Pro enhancements in line with the updated hardware.

It has been less than a month since the PS5 Pro was announced, and although it has yet to hit the market officially, fans have already figured out which titles are receiving the ‘next-gen’ fidelity update. PlayStation’s Lead Architect, Mark Cerny, said the PS5 Pro is “the most powerful console we have ever built,” citing GPU upgrades, ray tracing, and AI upscaling as the primary reasons the PS5 Pro can deliver higher quality than the original console.

While fans have located a slew of titles that have been confirmed to receive upgrades with the new console, Diablo IV was left off of that list until now. Senior Vice President and General Manager of Diablo IVRod Fergusson, has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the latest Diablo title will also be receiving the next-gen treatment. The post can be seen below.

When asked whether the latest Blizzard title would receive the upgrades promised by the PS5 Pro, Fergusson responded: “I’ve been getting this question quite a bit recently, and I’m happy to say that Diablo IV and Vessel of Hatred will indeed be PS5 Pro Enhanced!” Two days ago, Diablo IV released its latest cinematic trailer for the upcoming Vessel of Hatred expansion, filled with a live-action look at what’s to come when Sanctuary lets the new Nahantu region into the fold.

With the confirmation, it appears Sony can make any title, even Microsoft titles, PS5 Pro upgraded. While the previous list of upgraded titles seemed complete, it’s worth mentioning fan favourites like Bloodborne and God of War (and the sequel) have not been announced as PS5 Pro upscaled just yet, so fans should remain patient for more upgrade announcements for the upcoming console launch.

Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred launches on October 8, and The PS5 Pro launches on November 7.
