Prolific Composer Joins Former Disco Elysium Devs For XXX NIGHTSHIFT

Since October 2024, former Disco Elysium developers have been hard at work on their next project, and today, the team enlisted a well-known composer to help with the music.

Back in October, a fourth studio was formed by former ZA/UM developers who worked on the cult-classic Disco Elysium. The studio announcement introduced the team under the Dark Math Games banner and confirmed that they are working on a new title called XXX NIGHTSHIFT—a detective RPG that bears a strong resemblance to Disco Elysium. The first game trailer was revealed at the time and can be seen below.

Today, Dark Math Games announced a new addition to its team. John Cunningham, a Grammy-nominated producer who has previously worked with Miley Cyrus and Kanye West, has been brought on to compose music for XXX NIGHTSHIFT.

Art director and founder of Dark Math Games, Timo Albert, said, “XXX NIGHTSHIFT is an ambitious project, and John’s innovative approach matches our energy perfectly.” He continued, “He knows how to get the best out of every artist, and we’re thrilled to have him as a hands-on collaborator with the development team. He’s taking the lead on sound and music with his signature style—players are in for something unforgettable.”

Cunningham seems as onboard as Dark Math Games, saying, “I’m super curious and excited to be a part of XXX NIGHTSHIFT, where the world has evolved so much, and our understanding of music and personalization has evolved alongside it,” concluding with the notion he will have his work cut out for him in XXX NIGHTSHIFT.

While the spiritual successor to Disco Elysium, XXX NIGHTSHIFT, is still in production, there is no timetable for release yet. Fans can head to the official website for more information on the upcoming titles.
