Watch the Wild Trailer For Disney’s Twisted Wonderland Anime Adaption

A Unique Take on Disney Villains

Get a Look at the Trailer For Disney's Twisted Wonderland The Animation: Episode of Heartslabyul

Disney has released the main trailer for the upcoming anime adaption of Twisted Wonderland, and it looks just as wild as its mobile game counterpart.

Now, I’m going to hazard a guess and assume a lot of people have never heard of Twisted Wonderland, in which case this trailer is probably going to seem bewildering. This is an anime adaption of the beloved mobile game, where iconic Disney villains are turned into bishonen versions of themselves, and part of a prestigious magical academy.

The game combined rhythm and battle elements, and tells a story of students living in different dorms that are based on Disney villains, such as Maleficent, Jafar, and the Queen of Hearts.

This first episode of the anime, Heartslabyul, tells the story of the student that live at the dorm based on the Queen of Hearts. It should also be noted that Heartslabyul received a manga adaptation a few years ago as well. Twisted Wonderland is a pretty wild concept that has wildly succeeded by really leaning into its drama and ridiculous setup.

Here’s a description of the world of Twisted Wonderland, from the game’s English website.

Summoned by a magic mirror to Twisted Wonderland, a world altogether unlike your own, you arrive at Night Raven College, a prestigious arcane academy.

With nowhere else to go, you accept the masked headmage’s hospitality and begin searching for a way home.

You quickly find that the students of this school are as talented as they are dysfunctional—bickering and competition are the perpetual order of the day.

Will you be able to work with them and eventually return from whence you came?

And what secrets lie within the villainous hearts of these students?

The anime series is being made by Yumeta Company and Graphinica, with Takahiro Natori (Tokyo Mew Mew New) in charge of the production. This first season, subtitled Chapter of Heartslabyul, will run for eight episodes.

The first eight-episode season of Disney’s Twisted Wonderland will premiere on Disney+ on October 29, 2025.
