Double Helix Games Acquired By Amazon

Double Helix Games Acquired By Amazon

Double Helix Games, responsible for the Killer Instinct reboot, has been purchased by Amazon.

The news comes way of Polygon, who confirmed with Amazon earlier tonight. The statement is as follows: “Amazon has acquired Double Helix as part of our ongoing commitment to build innovative games for customers.”

It has long been rumoured that Amazon are developing a game system to compete with the likes of Sony and Microsoft. According to an article from VG 24/7, the Amazon device will come out this year and be less than $300.

So where does this leave Killer Instinct on the Xbox One? Well, luckily, Microsoft has confirmed in a statement that they are working with a “new development partner” on the project. Also, Capcom has confirmed that Strider will launch February 19th, so no need to worry about the state of those titles.
