On Thursday, Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched globally for all fans to play and it has proven to be EA’s most popular single-player launch on Steam ever.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched Thursday, and fans have begun their journey across Thedas in droves. The title launched to mainly positive reviews (garnering a “generally favourable” 84% on Metacritic) and so many fans have joined The Veilguard that the latest title in the Dragon Age series has surpassed the Steam launch of every single-player EA-published game before it.

The only title more popular than the latest Dragon Age is the CAPCOM Monster Hunter Wilds Beta test on Steam right now, which sits at a whopping ~445,000 players right now. Dragon Age: The Veilguard has breached 70,000 players at its 24-hour peak, and currently sits at around ~55,000 players. That number more than eclipses the previous EA single-player record held by Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which sits at a peak of 67,855 players according to Steamdb.
Bioware and EA released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) commending the launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, congratulating the launch and thanking fans for giving the new title a play. Studio General Manager and Executive Producer of The Veilguard, Gary McKay said “What an adventure it’s been getting here, with every single person who touched this game putting their heart and soul into making this game something special. So welcome back to Thedas, and from the bottom of our hearts – thank you.”
Game Director, Corinne Busche says “We cannot wait to see the deeply personalized characters you’ll create, the inventive ways you’ll combat your foes, and the decisions you’ll make that shape your adventure” regarding the title’s launch. CGMagazine’s review of Dragon Age: The Veilguard calls it ” the Game of the Year contender to beat” a 10/10 score.
