DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO finally comes to both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 today, and Bandai Namco has released a new trailer in celebration of the occasion.
Released a year ago in October 2024, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO is a revival of the legendary Budokai Tenkaichi series — bringing Dragon Ball back to high-speed arena fighters. If you’ve never played that style of game before, essentially it’s a cross between action and fighting games, where two teams of characters duke it out on a massive level filled with destruction. DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO really doubled down on emulating the spectacle of Dragon Ball fights, so expect no shortage of explosions, beam attacks, and a lot of yelling.
DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO also features the largest roster of any game in the franchise, with over 180 fighters from across Dragon Ball Z, Super, GT, and even a handful of the films. There’s also, no joke, over 20 different variations of Goku in this game alone.
To date, the game has also released three different DLC packs that add even more characters, including the likes of Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, Super Saiyan 4 Goku (Daima), Majin Duu, and Third Eye Gomah. The DLC packs are available as separate purchases or as part of the various editions. The Switch and Switch 2 versions have three different editions, which you can see below.
- Standard Edition ($59.99) – Base Game
- Deluxe Edition ($89.99) – Base Game, Season Pass (DLC 1-3), and Season Pass Bonus to Summon Shenron.
- Ultimate Edition ($99.99) – Ultimate Upgrade Pack (Goku (Super) costume with power pole, emote voice set, 2 player card backgrounds, 1 customization item, and everything in the Ultimate Edition.
We were fairly positive on Sparking Zero in our review, saying “Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is a near-perfect representation of the legendary Shounen series, which comes with its own set of pros and cons but ultimately is a must-play for fans.”
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 1 & 2.
