As Dying Light: The Beast approaches its release, the developers at Techland have decided to delay the game by four weeks for “polishing.”
Although Techland understands that the excitement is palpable regarding their upcoming release, Dying Light: The Beast, they’ve made the difficult decision to delay The Beast by four weeks, moving the next title’s release out of the hotter Summer months and into September. The developer decided to delay The Beast to “allow for extra polishing,” and it will now be hitting shelves on September 19, instead of the original August 21 release date.

Techland posted an update to its blog, explaining its reasoning behind the delay. The blog post reads, “It has always been our goal to make Dying Light: The Beast the best Dying Light game we’ve ever released. To honour this promise, we’ve made the decision to move the release date to September 19, 2025, to allow for extra polishing work.” Techland says it’s decision was also influenced by the positive feedback the team received from The Beast previews, further cementing the idea they had to give the title extra polish.
CGMagazine’s latest preview of Dying Light: The Beast said, “I had an absolute blast playing Dying Light: The Beast, and I literally can’t stop thinking about returning to Castor Woods on Aug. 22 to continue the story in earnest,” regarding the solo campaign featuring original protagonist, Kyle Crane. Although fans will now have to wait a few more weeks to dive into The Beast, Techland assures fans that the wait will be worth it. On top of delay news, Techland has also announced The Beast will be playable in demo form at gamescom 2025.

While it is unclear whether the ‘more polished’ version of The Beast will be playable at gamescom or not, Techland promises updates made to the title during the four-week delay —such as UI enhancements— will make the next chapter in Kyle Crane’s story a smoother ride. So, until September 19 arrives, fans (and attendees of gamescom 2025) will have the opportunity to get their hands on the next Dying Light adventure before the new release date, but for the rest of us, it’s September 19.
