Elden Ring Nightreign's Duo Expeditions Has Been Delayed Due To Serious Tsunami Warning

The previously announced Elden Ring Nightreign Duo Expeditions game mode, which would allow two players to challenge Night Lords without a third wheel, has been delayed.

Just last week, FromSoftware uncorked an announcement that many fans have been anticipating since they’ve confirmed a dedicated two-player mode ‘could happen’ to Elden Ring Nightreign. Excitement for the release of the Duo Expeditions mode was palpable up to the planned release, which was scheduled to land in Patch 1.02 today.

Unfortunately, FromSoftware has decided to push back Duo Expeditions’ release, as well as the planned Everdark Sovereign, due to evacuation orders that have hit the Pacific. Nearly 1.9 million people have been ordered to seek safety in notable Pacific regions: Hawaii, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Guam, Peru, and more, according to the BBC (and found by VGC). They continue to make updates live, and just this hour, they’ve reported evacuations have gotten more dire as “Several South American nations with Pacific coastlines have issued tsunami alerts and advisories.”

Elden Ring Nightreign‘s official delay announcement was posted to X (formerly Twitter), and it can be seen below.

The delay pushes back the update by a day, as FromSoftware now plans to release Duo Expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign on July 31 alongside Patch 1.02. Elden Ring Nightreign has seen marked success since its launch this year, as FromSoftware recently boasted the title has sold over two million units since its launch back in May. CGMagazine’s review of Nightreign says it “captures that signature Soulslike adrenaline rush—the high that comes from conquering a brutal boss—and delivers it over and over again.”

Although fans have to wait until tomorrow to face the new Everdark Sovereign in Duo Expeditions, fans have taken up residence in the comments section under the FromSoftware post, wishing each other well and safe travels, while agreeing the decision FromSoftware made was a good one.
