Elden Ring Nightreign has stumbled a bit out of the gate, as during the first Closed Network Test, thousands of players have reported issues, including not being able to access it at all.
Across social media players have reported issues, and there are even threads on sites like Reddit filled with players saying they aren’t even able to access the test. Of course, the point of a Network event like this is to stress test the game’s servers and make sure it can handle massive amounts of players — which is clearly an issue currently.
Bandai Namco describes it as such, “This large-scale Network Stress Test is designed to evaluate various aspects of the online system’s functionality and performance. We are looking forward to your cooperation to make Elden Ring Nightreign even better.”
Nightreign is a twist on the Elden Ring formula, a co-op multiplayer experience combined with roguelike elements. In each match, a team of three players explore the map of Elden Ring, taking down enemies for experience and searching for new equipment. A ring of fire is constantly closing in on the map, and when it’s complete, it’ll spawn a deadly randomized boss. If you can survive for three nights, you win.
The current schedule for the closed network test looks like this.
- February 14: 3am-6am PT / 6am-9am ET
- February 14: 7pm-10pm PT / 10pm-1am ET
- February 15: 11am-2pm PT / 2pm-5pm ET
- February 16: 3am-6am PT / 6am-9am ET
- February 16: 7pm-10pm PT / 10pm-1am ET
Luckily, an extra day of the test is apparently being considered.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), FromSoftware responded by saying, “We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the game server issues. Work is currently ongoing to improve the stability of the Network Test. An additional Network Test session is being considered.”
Elden Ring Nightreign launches on May 30 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
