With just under a month until the release of Elden Ring Nightreign, Bandai Namco has released a lengthy new overview trailer to teach players the ins and outs of the new experience.
Unlike most of FromSoftware’s games that focus on single-player experiences, Elden Ring Nightreign is a multiplayer-focused title — described as a “co-op survival experience.” Nightreign is a completely standalone experience separate from Elden Ring itself, and players don’t have to be familiar with that game to jump in, although it will undoubtedly help.
Three players have to band together to survive three days, as a ring of deadly fire slowly shrinks and consumes the entire map.
You and your teammates drop into Limveld at level one and have to defeat enemies and find equipment to improve your characters and survive. As night falls on each day, random boss will appear, and your team needs to defeat it in order to progress to the next day. One of the major new features of this game are the day three bosses, the “Night Lords.” These are brand-new versions of bosses from across the Souls series, that demand serious teamwork to take down.
At the same time, however, the trailer shows that Nightreign is heavily based around random events happening, making you adjust on the fly — like a massive volcanic pit appearing the middle of the map.
The trailer also gives us our best look yet at the eight different classes of Nightreign, known as Nightfarers. Here are the eight Nightfarers currently in the game.
- Wylder – A balanced all-rounder, effective in both speed and attack power.
- Guardian – A tank with heavy attacks and increased damage resistance.
- Duchess – A nimble fighter who specializes in stealth and prefers daggers.
- Recluse – A witch of the deep forest who deftly wields ancient sorceries.
- Ironeye – An archer with split-second judgment and pinpoint accuracy.
- Raider – A powerful sea-farer who favors enormous weapons.
- Executor – A katana-wielding, parry-focused fighter
- Revenant – A summoner specializing in using Spirit Ashes.
Elden Ring Nightreign launches on May 30 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
