Miyazaki Hints at Potential Elden Ring Adaptation Amidst DLC Difficulty Debates

First off, Try Blessing!

Shadow of the Erdtree Patch Makes It Easier & FromSoftware says "There's Interest" in an Adaptation

Shadow of the Erdtree is less than one week old, and fans have already taken to the internet to protest about Elden Ring‘s difficulty, and Miyazaki said there’s interest in adapting The Lands Between.

Today, Elden Ring has released some notable patch notes for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and notably, the patch is meant to make the DLC content ‘more balanced’. The Scadutree Blessing is an item introduced within the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC (that only works in that area), which improves the effectiveness of the player’s damage negation and damage dealt in stacks when multiple of the items are used. These items were meant to combat the staggering difficulty of the expansion, but players have noted that the DLC is still ‘too hard.’ The latest patch, dubbed Calibration Update 1.12.2, details changes made to “adjust the Expansion’s balance.”

The Shadow of the Erdtree Calibration Update 1.12.2 details “the attack and damage negation has been increased for the first half of the maximum amount of Blessing enhancements, and the second half will now be more gradual” regarding the Scadutree Blessing items intended to balance the DLC. Also, for fans that have maxed the scadutree blessing level, fans will notice the increase at maximum will also be improved. To ensure the patch is installed, fans just have to restart the game and log in to the multiplayer server. If the version reads “1.12.2” in the corner, then your game is up to date.

In other news, FromSoftware President Hidetaka Miyazaki has been making the media rounds since Shadow of the Erdtree launched on June 21, and in a recent interview with The Guardian, he said an adaptation for Elden Ring has “interest.” Miyazaki started the interview with a thought everyone who has played Elden Ring has shared “I want to preface this by saying I absolutely suck at video games.”

Near the end of the interview, Miyazaki went on to explain the nuances of making an Elden Ring adaptation, but interestingly, he first mentions his desire to see other directors at FromSoftware create their own “smaller projects” and not just have releases headed by himself, he calls Elden Ring “the turning point” for the company to allow this to happen.

Regarding an adaptation, he then says, “I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie, for example,” with “But I don’t think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play. We’d have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest, for sure.”
