EVE Online and CCP Games have unveiled what they call “The Blood Tome” at EVE Fanfest 2026, promising a truly unique experience for participating fans.
The Blood Tome is an archival and cultural project focused on preserving the living history of EVE Online. Fans who register and participate at EVE Fanfest 2026 will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have their blood incorporated into a real-world manuscript called “The Capsuleer Edda.” A finger-prick amount of blood will be mixed with ink and then used in the writing of the manuscript.

“For more than 20 years, EVE Online has operated as a continuous, player-driven society, a persistent universe where economies, alliances, wars, betrayals and reputations carry weight over time,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “For many players, the line between hobby and lived experience blurs. Corporations become communities. Conflicts become shared memory. Decisions made a decade ago still echo around New Eden. That kind of lasting impact is rare in digital spaces. That is why we are going to these lengths to keep EVE Online forever. The universe has depth, the community treats it seriously, and the history is real because the commitment behind it is real.”
The Blood Tome experience will not be just a piece of paper and a pen. It will combine “commissioned writing, professional calligraphy, archival vellum, historically grounded ink-making and symbolic participation, with materials chosen for longevity.” Two master vellum manuscripts are planned, one for permanent storage and another for exhibition and museum travel. CCP Games has also ensured professional expertise in blood biology, along with medical oversight and guidance, to ensure the process is handled safely.

Any fan who wants to be part of EVE Online history must register here; registration closes on April 2, 2026. Anyone who registers in time will have their finger pricked by registered medical staff at the event. After the blood is collected, deCODE Genetics will conduct the sterilization, pooling, and treatment process. The final step involves pooling the blood onto a sterile piece of filter paper before combining it into a single mixture and treating it for infectious agents ahead of its transformation into ink.
EVE Online has a storied history of events and conflicts spanning 22 years, and fans will likely be thrilled to know they can now contribute to that legacy in person. Even if you are not keen on getting blood drawn, you can still enjoy the rest of EVE Fanfest 2026 by purchasing a ticket here.
