Exclusive Response to Nintendo from Miiquality founder

Earlier today Nintendo issued a statement through Facebook saying they will strive to make future Tomodachi games more inclusive to all gamers.

“We apologize for disappointing many people by failing to include same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to change this game’s design, and such a significant development change can’t be accomplished with a post-ship patch,” says Nintendo in the statement. “We pledge that if we create a next installment in the Tomodachi series, we will strive to design a game-play experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players.”

This looks like a win for Tye Marini, a 23 year old from Arizona who started a movement to bring same sex relationships to the upcoming Tomodachi Life game that releases June 6, 2014.  “I am very happy with Nintendo’s response,” says Marini in a Skype interview,  “I don’t believe that Nintendo was actively trying to exclude anyone in Tomodachi Life, but rather it was something that was unfortunately overlooked.”

The Miiquality Movement exploded earlier in the week, so this is quick action from Nintendo.”I did not expect Nintendo to reply to the situation like this quite so soon, but it is very appreciated,” says Marini, “I will definitely be buying Tomodachi Life when it releases next month, and I look forward to any future installments in the series.”
