When Phoenix Labs announced they were slashing their development team, the future for Fae Farm looked bleak. However, the game has acquired a second chance, thanks to a brand new publisher.
Announced via press release, the collective that includes Gambit Digital, Game Cloud Network, Pure Wonder Interactive, and Phatty Acid aims to “bring together expertise and resources to enhance the player experience and drive innovative development of the Fae Farm franchise.” The group hopes to nurture long-term growth of Fae Farm with Gambit Digital serving as the game’s publisher of record.
“Fae Farm has captured the hearts of players around the world, and we’re honoured to help guide its next chapter,” said Co-Founder of Gambit Digital Pascal Nataf. He continued, “As a studio rooted in Canada, we’re especially proud that this partnership will ensure Fae Farm remains a Canadian IP, one that continues to celebrate its community while staying true to the spirit that made Azoria so special in the first place.”
Phoenix Labs initially announced it was being affected by layoffs back in May of 2024 when it cut roughly 140 to 160 positions from the studio. These layoffs continued in January of 2025 when the studio cut “the majority of the studio,” effectivley killing both Fae Farm and Dauntless—which was the studio’s free-to-play Monster Hunter-esque flagship title.
Originally developed and published by Phoenix Labs and launched in September 2023, Fae Farm quickly cultivated a thriving community with more than 500,000 players across all platforms. The new ownership team says it is thrilled to collaborate closely with this passionate community, ensuring the enchanting online experience continues to flourish. Players can look forward to exciting future announcements that will add even more magic to their Azoria adventure.
No word has been shared on whether Dauntless may see a second wind under this collective or even a separate publisher. The game’s servers were shut down as of February 2025, and the game is no longer accessible across all platforms.
