Set in the universe of its close cousin Control, FBC Firebreak is getting its last major content update and a permanently discounted price.

The developers behind FBC Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment, have confirmed that after this update, the game will receive no other content. The good news is that FBC Firebreak won’t fall into the pit that so many other online games have fallen into, meaning that Remedy has given the game support so it can run for years to come, independently.

“We want to make sure those moments can continue for the players who are already here, and for anyone else looking for a high-energy, low-pressure game night with friends.” Said Game Director Mike Kayatta in the official press release.“That’s why the relay servers are staying up, the price is going down, and a Friend’s Pass is going in. From all of us on the team, thank you for your own passion and experimentation, and we’ll see you in there.”

The friends pass added to the game means that anyone who owns it can invite their friends to play it with them for free. On console, it’s listed as “free trial”. The pass is only a small part of the full “Open House” update, which includes a very extensive list of patch notes, mostly focused on game balance and system updates, such as altering the text descriptions of some achievements. There is also a major addition: five new maps themed after the mainline Control games, including the Cafeteria, Aircon Room, Ranger HQ, Turntable, and Ritual Lobby.

As a final celebration of the game’s time around the block, FBC Firebreak is now permanently discounted, now priced at $19.99 plus a 20 percent Steam discount. A bittersweet ending to a game that saw so much effort put into it; at least it can be played for years to come instead of rotting on disabled servers.
