Development of both Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 is apparently making stead progress according to Tetsuya Nomura, who serves as creative director on both projects.
Nomura’s comments come the second anniversary news stream for the mobile game Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis. Translated by @aitaikimochi on X.
“[Motomu] Toriyama supposedly said we will have news around the 2nd anniversary of FF7EC. We are making great progress on the game!,”
Nomura then notes he can’t say much else, seeing as this is simply an Ever Crisis livestream.
“But we are indeed making a lot of progress with the game. We already have decided when we will make the announcement as well. And we will stick to that time schedule. So don’t worry, but please wait for it,” Nomura says, “On that same note, I’m seeing a lot of comments on Kingdom Hearts 4. We are making great strides and going according to schedule.”
At the moment we don’t have any idea of a release window or even release year for either game, but members of the Final Fantasy 7 team have previously been vocal about how keeping the same development team helped tremendously when working on Rebirth.
There was a gap of just under four years between Remake and Rebirth, so if you consider the same timeline that would put Part 3 out at the tail-end of 2027.

But in the interim, Ever Crisis is receiving a wealth of new content for its anniversary. That starts with a playable Sephiroth, not the young version from First Soldier, but proper Masamune-wielding villain. On top of that the game will be getting costumes and collaborations with Advent Children, Final Fantasy XIII, and the NieR franchise. First Soldier Chapter 2’s finale will also debut in October 2025.
Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is available on Android, iOS, and PC.
