In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV, A Realm Reborn is getting its very own tabletop RPG.
Tabletop RPGs are adventure titles where a group of friends can have fun experiences from the very table they sit at home, without an internet connection. So, Square Enix has decided to pull back the curtain on a Final Fantasy XIV-flavoured one just in time for the Realm Reborn‘s 10th anniversary. Not only can fans have an abundance of new adventures from the different tabletop perspectives in Eorzea, but the narrative ties directly into the Realm Reborn main scenario. Rest assured, the non-MMO-playing gamers can still participate, but fans who play the MMO will feel right at home.
The upcoming Final Fantasy XIV TTRPG Starter Kit comes with everything aspiring adventurers need to get their journey started (friends not included). Square Enix has given fans a breakdown of what comes inside the starter kit below.
Final Fantasy XIV TTRPG Starter Set Contents
- Player Book: This beginner-friendly book contains everything a new player needs to learn the ropes and rules of roleplaying games, including the ins and outs of Eorzea.
- Gamemaster Book: This handbook offers tips and advice for game masters, including three ready-to-run premade scenarios that tie in directly to Final Fantasy XIV‘s main story.
- Premade Character Sheets: 4 Premade Full-color Character Sheets (Warrior, White Mage, Dragoon, Black Mage) are included.
- Custom Design Dice: 6d20 dice & 10d6 dice are included (16 in total).
- Rules Summary & Strategy Guide for Adventure Law.
- An encounter map is provided to help adventurers when they’ve lost their way.
- Character Tokens and Ability Markers.
Aside from the initial announcement, not much else has been provided regarding details on which scenarios made the cut into the TTRPG, or how the FFXIV Gil commerce system will work in-game. But pre-orders for the TTRPG are live now from the Square Enix store, so fans looking to secure a copy can swing over there to do so.
