First Break Labs is a new publishing label crafted by industry veterans from SEGA, Nintendo, ATLUS, and SmileGate, and their goal is to spotlight groundbreaking new games.
A new publishing company has been formed called First Break Labs. Like the title, the label is laser-focused on providing a platform for indie developers to get their games known to the world. There might be no one better suited to get fresh eyes on some of the most innovative titles than the developers who have worked on previous success stories. The label has also revealed a trailer showcasing four of its upcoming titles, which can be seen below.
Chief Publishing Officer Alfonso Cubias says, “Our mission at First Break Labs is to empower indie developers. Some of the most innovative and creative ideas in gaming originate from independent studios. Our goal is to provide them with the resources and support they need to bring their creative visions to life and reach a global audience.” Regarding the label’s vision, the studio’s main goal is to empower indie developers with marketing expertise and game launch experience to create more success stories in the indie development space.
Head of Marketing at First Break Labs, Derek Seklecki, detailed, “We can’t wait for the world to get to play their future classics, and we’ll have even more brilliant titles to announce in the months ahead, so stay tuned.” There are already four titles in the chamber for the label, and they’re listed below (courtesy of First Break Labs).
- Entropy Survivors – A roguelike featuring an unlikely interplanetary duo mash-up of a formidable mech and a sharpshooting space frog. Each duo is equipped with unique abilities and customizable weapons, as Entropy Survivors can be played solo or with a team of 2-4 players in an online co-op. A bullet hell worth visiting.
- Warside – A turn-based tactical title, complete with a story campaign, multiplayer support, and a built-in map editor. Like Civilization, fans can choose a Commander, assemble their forces, and battle their way to victory.
- Baseless – A planet-jumping shooter that deploys innovative gravity-bending physics. A 360-degree range of movement is available throughout Zero-G environments, and fans can creatively demolish every enemy in their path to save their family. Embark on a journey through a vibrant galaxy worth defending.
- Particle Hearts – A third-person puzzle-adventure game where travellers explore a world made entirely of particles. Players must uncover the role they play in this beautiful land.
