FOAMSTARS Live Service Support Will Die After January, Says Square Enix

On Thursday, the FOAMSTARS producer Kosuke Okatani has made an official announcement that live support service for the title will end on Jan 17.

Only two months after FOAMSTARS ditched its $30 price tag and going free-to-play, Square Enix has made the official decision to end live service support for the bubbly shooter less than a year after its launch. While online services will continue for the multiplayer title, season updates for FOAMSTARS will end on December 13. Seeing as how there will be no new content added beyond this date, the FOAMSTARS CUP will start as in-game events named after each roster character and the chaotic EXTREME PARTY game mode will also take place regularly.

That’s not all, the CASUAL PARTY and MISSION modes can be enjoyed as normal, and the previously released Season Pass launches (along with potential rewards) will be made available again as well. The game’s final season titled “PARTY GOES ON!” launches on December 13 and runs until January 17, but as the season is titled, the game will not shut down completely and will still remain playable, just no new content will be made available.

Producer Kosuke Okatani said “Thank you so much for playing FOAMSTARS” in a heartfelt message expressing gratitude towards players who have joined the community. Okatani continues with “If FOAMSTARS has become a game that you can enjoy with others, then we couldn’t be happier. Thanks to all of you, we’ve managed to successfully complete every update we had planned. We’ve been able to reach this point because of your warm support” and concluding with “We hope you will continue to enjoy FOAMSTARS for many years to come.”

While the live service aspect will end, Okatani ends on a bittersweet “Thank you for your continued support.” The Square Enix title will remain playable after January, but fans shouldn’t expect new content for the title in the future. Fans can check out the entire Producer message on the Square Enix website.
