Epic Games and Fortnite have rolled out the red carpet for the game’s newest mode: Fortnite Blitz Royale, a fast-paced, 32-player battle royale that can wrap up in five minutes or less.
Epic and Fortnite have just launched the new mode, and it’s live now. Fortnite Blitz Royale is a 32-player battle royale experience (reduced from the usual 100-player cap) that delivers new gameplay in every match. Epic says the mode is so quick that active players can secure a win in five minutes or less, making it a perfect opportunity to grind out games on a mobile device. The premise is simple: every player starts with the same random medallion or unique weapon on a smaller map, evening the playing field from the start.
Combatants then attempt to eliminate other players and, in doing so, raise their blitz level. As a player’s blitz level increases, they’ll earn more powerful weapons and power-ups as rewards. That’s not all, though. Fortnite Blitz Royale stays true to Fortnite’s loot-heavy philosophy, with golden chests and supply drops randomly scattered throughout matches to keep the action moving fast. Epic Games has released a trailer and the upcoming event schedule for Blitz Royale—both of which can be seen below.
Fortnite Blitz Royale – Four Week Event, Four Fast Updates
- June 18: Week 1 – Launch Week! Find new Mythic versions of popular weapons, like the Rocket Ram, in the rare Golden Llama.
- June 24: Week 2 – The Avatar Returns! Pagodas from the Four Nations appear on the map, and players start with a Bending Scroll from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
- July 1: Week 3 – Bad Bosses! Replacing Bending Scrolls are power-packed boss weapons like Thorne’s Vampiric Blade and the new Blitz Chain of Hades.
- July 8: Week 4 – TMNT Melee Mayhem! Replacing boss items are melee weapons from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, plus Megalo Don’s Nitro Fists, the Mythic Typhoon Blade, Blitz Kneecapper, and more.

Fans who earn 10 account levels in Fortnite Blitz Royale or place in the top 10 in 20 different Blitz Royale matches will receive the Blitz Knight outfit free of charge. (The outfit may become available in the item shop at a later date.) The outfit and other Blitz Royale rewards will only be available until the end of the event, so fans will have to act fast to claim the spoils.
