Frostpunk 2 Is Heading To Console

Fans of the frigid faction facsimile will be excited to hear that Frostpunk 2 is coming to consoles in the months ahead.

In a press release, 11 bit studios announced that Frostpunk 2 will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Sept. 18, 2025. Alongside a digital release, the game will also debut with two premium physical editions, developed in collaboration with Skybound Games for both consoles.

Supposedly, the team drew from lessons they learned during the original Frostpunk’s console port, pushing them to further refine the circular, easily navigable interface. The port allows players to guide the politics and people of New London with the palms of their hands, on controllers and thumbsticks alike.

“Initially, we tried to carry over as many interface solutions as possible,” reflects Production Coordinator on the Frostpunk 2 team, Igor Skibinski, adding, “but the two games differ so much in terms of gameplay that we had to adapt and rework those systems over time. Still, our main focus was to make interaction with the game feel seamless—so players never have to think about how to play while they’re playing.” Skibinski concluded by saying, “Our ambition is to once again prove that even complex strategy games can feel intuitive and satisfying on consoles.”

The premium editions, labelled the “Icebreaker Edition” and “Whiteout Edition,” will feature a host of goodies—The Icebreaker edition will have a pop-up diorama of New London, the chilling digital novella Warm Flesh, and a behind-the-scenes digital artbook. The Whiteout Edition will have the above-mentioned extras housed in a multi-layered shadow box featuring integrated LED lighting, as well as a Deluxe Edition upgrade, granting access to the three upcoming DLC, and additional physical keepsakes.

However, it remains unknown whether Frostpunk 2 will be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2. Given the system’s mouse support and improved hardware, it could be a solid fit.
