Genshin Impact account suspensions begin July 18th unless age verification is completed, thanks to a forced FTC age verification in May.
Last month, as part of a settlement between the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and HoYoverse, Genshin Impact is required to have all its US-based players verify their age by July, and the deadline of July 18 is in two days. The reason for the requirement is due to the federal judgment forbidding HoYoverse from selling loot boxes to anyone under the age of 16 without expressed parental consent, and the forced age verification is how HoYoverse is complying with the ruling.

The looming suspension deadline is happening as Genshin Impact Version 5.7 is underway. In the latest update titled “A Space and Time for You,” the long-anticipated debut of Skirk (Childe’s mysterious master) finally occurs, as well as new story content that delves deeper into the Traveller twins’ destinies. A new banner featuring the master herself, Skirk (Sword/Cryo), and a support character, Dahlia (Sword/Hydro), who synergizes well with Skirk, leads the charge.
With that in mind, the steps below are how you can avoid getting your Genshin Impact account suspended.
How to Complete Genshin Impact Age Verification

- First things first, the age verification is currently only being enforced in the USA (for now), so if you don’t reside in the 50 States, you don’t have to worry. If you do, go to your official Genshin Impact account linked email and find the “Last Reminder: Your account will be suspended by July 18, 2025,” then click the big LOG IN button inside of that email to streamline the process. Or, fans can just head to this link.
- On the second page, there is a big VERIFY MY AGE button, and after navigating through, you will have to log in to your Genshin Impact account.
- After logging in, the user simply has to type their birth month and year into the prompt menu, and after hitting verify, verification will be complete.
It’s important to note that while this process is tedious, it’s important to complete it before July 18, as account suspensions will start then. After accounts begin to receive suspensions, HoYoverse warns further that “If the verification is not completed by July 20, affected accounts will be SUSPENDED, and important personal data will be PERMANENTLY DELETED if no further action is taken.” Fans can find more information on the official website.
