Gina Carano Sues Disney Over Mandalorian Firing & Legal Fees Paid By Elon Musk

In Feb 2021, Gina Carano’s controversial social media remarks led to her Mandalorian exit, now, she’s suing Disney and Lucasfilm.

In a complaint filed yesterday in California Federal Court, Gina Carano alleges Disney and Lucasfilm fired her from The Mandalorian based on her right-wing political views spread over her social media accounts. The cause of action in the case is 28 U.S. Code § 1332, and Carano is alleging Disney and Lucasfilm wrongfully terminated her employment, and she is further accusing the Walt Disney Company of defamation, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Surprisingly, Elon Musk is supporting her legal fees, making good on his promise made last year of supporting anyone’s legal fees if they’ve been ‘discriminated against’ based on remarks they post on his X (formerly Twitter) social media platform, with “no limit.” Elon Musk has gone further and emboldened staffers whom Disney has terminated with a post on his official X account that claims Disney mandates inclusion standards. The post can be seen below.

Gina Carano said, “The truth is I was being hunted down from everything I posted to every post I liked because I was not in line with the acceptable narrative of the time. My words were consistently twisted to demonize & dehumanize me as an alt-right-wing extremist. It was a bullying smear campaign aimed at silencing, destroying & making an example out of me” regarding how she was treated at Disney, and why she is moving forward with the lawsuit. Gina Carano notably made controversial posts on X, and other social media platforms in 2021 prior to her firing, comparing the horrors of the Holocaust with today’s political climate.

While the lawsuit is ongoing, fans can simply head over to X and give Elon Musk’s verified account a follow to stay in the loop.
