Vice City Is Back, and Grand Theft Auto VI’s New Trailer Makes It Look Wilder Than Ever

Have I Seen You Before?

Grand Theft Auto VI's 2nd New Story Trailer Sets Up Vice City as a Criminal Paradise

Rockstar Games recently announced the unfortunate delay of Grand Theft Auto VI, and one year before launch they’ve released their second story trailer.

It has been a good few months since Rockstar Games launched the first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, and today, just a couple of days after announcing the sixth mainline entry in the GTA franchise will be releasing in May 2026, they’ve uncorked a second trailer for fans to dive into. The trailer can be seen below, welcoming fans to Vice City.

Taking a page out of GTA3‘s playbook, one of the main characters (like Claude in Liberty City) can be seen getting released from prison. Fans are introduced to the two protagonists of GTA6, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, and the trailer does a good job outlining the Bonnie and Clyde–style relationship they have. Grand Theft Auto VI is set in a fictionalized version of Florida called Leonida, and the state is home to Vice City. While Lucia is being released, it’s almost as if Rockstar can’t help themselves with inside-joke nods to the player. The correction officer can be heard saying, “Have I seen you before?” to which Jason replies, “You might’ve.”

Much like the first trailer, Rockstar’s second GTA 6 teaser explores the Grand Theft Auto-styled state of Florida, featuring over-the-top gun marketing from series staples such as Ammu-Nation. Rockstar Games appears to be keeping details under wraps, as no gameplay is shown in the second trailer, just as in the first. However, the trailer confirms that the franchise is set in a fictionalized version of the United States. If Florida is called Leonida, it is possible New York and California—settings for previous entries GTA IV and GTA V—could be given new in-game names as well.

Grand Theft Auto VI was recently delayed until May 26, 2026, so fans may have a long time to wait until Rockstar Games shows any true gameplay from the sixth entry.
