The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed again by Rockstar Games, and this time, GTA 6 is put on hold for another six months, and fans aren’t happy.
The delay announcement hit the internet on Thursday alongside Take-Two’s July-September quarterly earnings results. Take-Two announced the most-anticipated open-world game of the year will now launch on November 19, 2026, six more months after its first officially announced release date. This brings the total delay time to approximately 12 months after it was pushed from the Fall 2025 window to May 2026 last year. This means Grand Theft Auto 6 will not release for at least another calendar year.
This is the second major delay Rockstar Games has announced for GTA 6. While the announcement was included in a financial briefing, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick did not give a specified reason for the delay, just assurance the company is “both excited and confident” Rockstar Games will deliver an “unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience.” The official release delay announcement posted by Rockstar Games can be seen below.
With the new delay announcement, fans have taken to internet forums to express their frustrations with the ongoing GTA 6 release delays. In a thread published yesterday, Redditors have bashed Rockstar for the delayed release announcement, with a few fans making light of the issue. One fan on the thread commented, “My therapist will hear about this Rockstar,” with four other fans piling on. Another fan made an observation, “I was 17 when GTA 5 came out, I’ll be 30 when this drops,” with another fan replying, “I was 26 when GTA 5 came out, I’ll be on Medicare when GTA 6 comes out.”
When GTA 6 was first delayed back in May 2025, Rockstar Games gave the reasoning that the title needed more time for “polish,” stating, “we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.” However, fans continue to become frustrated on the internet regarding constant release date vaguities.
While the new release date for GTA 6 is November 19, 2026, fans remain skeptical. As one Reddit user bluntly puts it, “Only 180 days until the next delay, we’re getting closer!”
