GTA 6 Publisher Take-Two Promises To Support Switch 2

Thursday evening, Take-Two’s latest financial earnings report landed, and the GTA 6 publisher revealed that it plans to support the Nintendo Switch 2.

Last evening, Take-Two reported its financial results during a call with investors, and Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick confirmed Take-Two’s position with Nintendo. Zelnick outlines the publisher’s long-standing relationship with Nintendo shortly before sharing optimism about the new console. Take-Two already boasts Red Dead Redemption, the GTA Trilogy and the upcoming Civilization VII will be available on the predecessor Nintendo Switch, so when posed on whether GTA 6 will come to Switch 2, Zelnick suggested any game could land on the Switch 2.

CEO Zelnick said “We’ve supported the platform [Nintendo Switch] when it made sense for the individual release,” continuing with “There was a time when Nintendo platforms are really geared at younger audiences and that was reflected in our release schedule. And now today with Switch and potentially with Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience” suggesting the time where the Switch is primarily viewed as ‘the family device’ is over. While the CEO’s comments and optimism surrounding the Switch 2 are encouraging, he could be referring to other ports instead of a GTA 6 Switch 2 launch.

Currently, Take-Two’s stock pricing has surged since the earnings call. Market Summary on Google Finance places the stock price up a staggering 13% as of this post, and while both events cannot be confirmed as correlated, it does show the earnings call was received favourably. Considering the ‘any game’ approach to Switch 2, instead of GTA 6, Zelnick could have been referring to a GTA 5 or GTA Online port to the console as both titles have not been available on Nintendo.

While the Nintendo fanbase remains hopeful GTA 6 will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2, the vagueness of Zelnick’s statements during the financial call and no mentioning of GTA 6 makes a potential port more speculation than fact so fans should take potential GTA 6 to Switch 2 news with a grain of salt until Take-Two or Nintendo report otherwise.
