Helldivers 2 Is Diving Onto Xbox For All Squads To Enjoy

The explosive multiplayer hit Helldivers 2, which was previously only available on PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam), will now be available for Xbox players as well.

Announced during a short announcement stream, Chief Creative Officer Johan Pilestedt, exclaimed to fans that they were “sending more dudes,” adding, “one of the best ways for us to be able to do that is to bring another platform into the fight.” Pilestedt ended the stream with a message of unity to the Helldivers 2 community, saying, “To all of you who have been with us over the last one and a half years, help out the new players. Get them into the fight so that they will become your brothers in battle.”

Helldivers 2 will launch on Xbox Series X|S on August 26th, 2025, with full crossplay between PC and PlayStation 5. In a blog post on the official Xbox website, Helldivers 2 Game Director Mikael Eriksson said, “We know gamers have been asking for this for some time, and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have, the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”

This is certainly good news for Xbox owners, considering the recent layoffs at Microsoft, shutting down several studios and cancelling many upcoming games. Helldivers 2 was one of PlayStation Studios’ largest launches on PC in 2024, with Arrowhead Studios saying it “far exceeded their expectations.” On February 12th, 2024, only four days after its launch, Arrowhead reported the game had sold over one million copies.

The launch of Helldivers 2 was so well received on PC, in fact, that servers struggled to maintain the massive number of players, frequently crashing and creating incredibly long wait times. Despite these issues—which were eventually fixed with extensive patching—the game received generally favourable reviews, currently sitting at an 83 on Opencritic.
