To prepare the incoming cadets enlisting into Super Earth’s service, Helldivers 2 has issued a refresher on what has occurred during the Galactic War since launch.

Helldivers 2 is finally on Xbox consoles (not on Xbox Game Pass), and to prepare recruits, Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a reminder on everything that has happened to Super Earth since Helldivers first started defending democracy back in 2024, and a lot has occurred. As Helldivers 2 matured from its release date, Arrowhead Studios has kept fans updated on all of the intel (and propaganda) defenders of democracy could need to fight back bugs, bots, and even the mysterious Illuminate threat. A new deep dive into Helldivers‘ next Into The Unjust gameplay has also been released, and it can be seen below.
Canonically, Helldivers 2 takes place 100 years after the First Galactic War (the events of Helldivers 1), and Super Earth has been ‘threatened’ once again. The Helldivers started their mission in the sequel by taking up arms against escaped Terminids, and deploying the Terminid Control System (TCS), a series of Termicide-dispensing towers, to cull and stop Terminid infestation throughout the galaxy.
Then, Automatons took over Malevelon Creek to build their anti-democratic death machines (fans still talk about the struggle of Malevelon Creek on forums like Reddit), and after Helldivers stopped the bots’ advance, they briefly disappeared from the galaxy. After constant struggles between Super Earth and those who would threaten democracy, Super Earth’s old foe, the Illuminate, resurfaced and made their first attack on a colony on Calypso. The illuminate used captured colonists to perform experiments, creating a new adversary in the process called the Voteless. The three-day battle saw the sacrifice of almost 38 million Helldivers.
Now that the Illuminate has once again vanished from the galaxy, this is where the recruits from the Xbox platform fit into the timeline of Super Earth. While the next “Into The Unjust” update arrives on September 2, fans can jump into Helldivers 2 right now on the Xbox platform as green recruits in defence of democracy.
