With only two weeks remaining until Helldivers 2 drops onto Xbox consoles, Arrowhead Studios launched a new trailer that teases a Halo 3: ODST collab in the final moments.
Xbox players can finally join the fight to defend democracy and Super Earth at the end of the month, and Arrowhead Studios is prepping for the influx of Helldivers with a new promotional trailer. The trailer channels its best late 2000s FPS hype, featuring Nelly’s “Here Comes The Boom” track, adding a dose of warranted nostalgia to a title that launched in 2024. The trailer can be seen below, featuring a heavily partisan view towards democracy.
Helldivers 2 launches at the end of the month for Xbox, but fans have noticed a potential teaser at the trailer’s final call. After the “out now on PS5 and PC” screen (which is normally where a trailer ends), Arrowhead continued the trailer with a scene of a Helldivers 2 planet getting assaulted by rain. The track (as GamesRadar+ points out) comes from Halo 3: ODST, and it plays during the second mission, “Mombasa Streets.” Helldivers in Helldivers 2 are expendable shock troopers, so the collab would make sense.
What’s even more interesting is Arrowhead’s choice to include the track during an apparent reinforcement stratagem deployment. The track plays in the second mission of Halo 3: ODST, and the musical cues chime as a Helldiver is dropping onto the setting. Seeing as how the track plays during the second mission, could this mean Halo 3: ODST troops’ next mission is to help Helldivers deploy democracy? Arrowhead included the track deliberately, as Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani took to Discord to playfully tease fans after the trailer dropped.

He wrote “Please prepare your pants” to the Discord server, and this advice would make sense to longstanding members of the Helldivers 2 community. Jorjani is known to threaten the browning of pants when it comes to Helldivers 2. Helldivers 2 unleashed a previous PlayStation collaboration with one of their IPs, Killzone, and the crossover included Helghast Trooper skins for soldiers ready to defend democracy. So while Helldivers 2 is no stranger to crossovers, Halo 3: ODST has not been confirmed just yet, so fans could keep their pants un-browned for the meantime.
Whatever happens, Helldivers 2 is launching on Xbox on August 26, and Arrowhead Studios may reveal its plans then.
