Helldivers 2 social media made waves on Sunday when it asked players to defect from Super Earth, but today, Machinery of Oppression has been unleashed, taking the fight to the bots’ homeworld, Cyberstan.
Helldivers 2 social media disrupted its usual stream of information designed to keep Helldivers in the fight on Sunday, posting messages that, head-scratchingly, urged those defending Super Earth to defect. A series of messages continued to pour out from the official Helldivers 2 X feed until yesterday, when Super Earth regained control of its systems from the Automatons.
Super Earth has distributed a new trailer, showcasing the true masterminds behind the false communications, Cyborgs. It has been learned that the Automatons seized the schematics for the Star of Peace (think the Death Star, but Helldivers 2) with the intent to build one for themselves to deploy against Super Earth. To defeat this menace, Helldivers will need to invade their homeworld, Cyberstan, to stop the new Cyborg menace. A trailer for Machinery of Oppression is available below.
The primary mission on the surface of Cyberstan is to stop the production of more cyborg abominations. To do this, Helldivers will need to destroy mega-factories, disrupt production lines and tear down war statues in the name of democracy. In Helldivers 2, cyborgs have deployed three new units to contend with. The Agitators, commanders of the Automaton legion in the field, are heavily armoured and can take control of enemy squads. Cyborg Radicals throw caution to the wind and rush your squad with reckless abandon.

The big bad, the Vox Engine, is the voice of the Cyborg Legion. This war machine is piloted by a high-ranking cyborg officer and blares cyborg propaganda as it terrorizes Cyberstan. It is armed with dual laser cannons and rockets to ensure its message is heard.
Helldivers 2 wants players to survive as long as possible, so there is a reinforcement limit for deploying onto the surface of Cyberstan. Every Helldiver death is counted in the Battle for Cyberstan, using a Galactic Reinforcement Counter that shows the finite number of Helldivers that can be deployed. If the counter reaches zero, it means the Battle for Cyberstan has been lost.

On top of the new update and new missions, Helldivers 2 has dropped a new warbond, the Siege Breakers warbond, on February 3 to give those who are dropping onto the Cyberstan battlefield new arms to take up against the Cyborgs. This warbond includes a laser shotgun, an explosive sledgehammer for breaching, a belt-fed grenade launcher for big explosions, and a new single-use rocket launcher that fires an explosion rivalling the Eagle’s 500mg bomb.
Helldivers 2 players can jump in today to hit the surface of Cyberstan in the name of Super Earth to face Cyborgs, and stop them before the Star of Peace is replicated.
