On Wednesday, Arrowhead Games officially announced the first Helldivers 2 crossover will feature Killzone 2, proving previous internet leaks and speculation right.
After leaks have stormed onto the internet this week regarding a portential team up of Killzone and Helldivers 2, Arrowhead Studios has come out and said it’s true on Wednesday, with an official announcement that Killzone 2 cosmetics are coming to Super Earth. Now available in the Superstore, the premium content includes the AC-1 Dutiful armour set (which feels like a Helgast Trooper accidentally dropped onto Malevelon Creek), the StA-52 Assault Rifle and a ‘Strength in Arms’ banner and cape. The announcement was made official over on X (formerly Twitter) and can be seen below.
The official post from Arrowhead Games on Steam reads: “We decided a long time ago to do crossovers only if and when they make perfect sense for the game.” The post continues with a tease for a premium reward for those successful in their fight to defend democracy: “High Command informs us that beyond the Superstore content, there’s also an additional Killzone 2 reward for all Helldivers depending on your success in the Galactic War…” This statement suggests Helldivers 2 still has surprises in store when it comes to significant game update announcements.
For fans concerned about the Superstore rotating Killzone 2 items out too quickly, Arrowhead has addressed those worries. The studio has promised that the Superstore will undergo an overhaul to make it easier for Helldivers to obtain essential gear. In the meantime, before the overhaul goes live, Arrowhead is testing longer rotation periods. The Killzone 2 collaboration items, for instance, will remain available for five days per page instead of the standard 48 hours.
Fans can rejoin the fight for Democracy now in Helldivers 2, and can embody their inner Helghast Trooper while doing so.
