Team Cherry has provided a small update about Hollow Knight: Silksong after two years of silence, reassuring fans desperate for news about the highly anticipated indie game that it is still in development.
After two years of silence, Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry‘s marketing and publishing lead, shared the update on Twitter, stating, “Yes, the game is real, progressing, and will release. <3,” in response to a user inquiry. While no additional details were revealed, the confirmation that the game is indeed real offers some relief to fans eagerly awaiting its release.
Fans of the Hollow Knight have been desperate for updates regarding the upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong, focusing on a new protagonist named Hornet, who was a key character and boss in the first game. From what is known about the sequel so far, we can expect to discover a new kingdom as we explore the coral forests, mossy grottos, and many more, performing lethal acrobatic action against 150 new foes, crafting powerful tools, completing new quests, and partaking in a new mode called Silk Soul mode, a challenging experience.

The last update we ever received about Hollow Knight: Silksong was Matthew Griffin sharing on Twitter about the game being delayed. It was planned to be released in the first half of 2023 but is delayed as the game has gotten much bigger and wants to take its time to deliver a quality game for the fans awaiting the sequel.
However, there is a theory that Hollow Knight: Silksong will make an appearance at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2nd, 2025. The theory was formed after a Twitter user spotted a Team Cherry member changing their tag and profile picture to a cake before the Switch 2 announcement, the cake profile picture redirected to a recipe when searched, the recipe was made on April 2nd which is the same day there will be a Nintendo Direct for Switch 2, and mentioning Nintendo has consistently been involved with Hollow Knight. Maybe this is just the fans setting up for a high expectation of the game making an appearance but who knows, there’s a chance that they could be right.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will be launched on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox, alongside the Xbox Game Pass on day one. In the meantime, all we can do is hope for an update about the development and maybe a new trailer.
