When Homeworld: Vast Reaches launched in 2024, it was available only to Meta Quest users. However, now even more gamers will be able to experience the game.
Announced via press release, FarBridge Inc. will be delivering Homeworld as a virtual-reality experience—cleverly titled: Homeworld: Vast Reaches to SteamVR on October 23rd, 2025. Following the initial release on Meta Quest, this definitive version includes a dramatic single-player campaign, plus new Challenge Levels designed to put elite strategy players’ command skills to the ultimate test.
Homeworld: Vast Reaches puts players directly into intense, 360-degree space battles—taking the series’ classic strategy gameplay mechanics and adapting them for virtual reality. Players will need to make fast decisions and watch them unfold from any angle and direct new ships into combat from the virtual command module on their wrist.
“When we launched on Meta Quest initially, some core strategy players reported they had mastered the gameplay in Vast Reaches and wanted harder missions, so we built three new Challenge Levels for this new version with them in mind,” said FarBridge Creative Director, Richard Rouse.
Adding to this, CEO of FarBridge, Patrick Curry, said, “We are exceedingly proud to be part of the Homeworld series, and to expand upon its rich lore in new and exciting ways. We built Homeworld: Vast Reaches to give fans a front row seat to colossal space combat, a riveting new story, and fully immersive, real-time strategy gameplay.”
Set between the events of Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2, Homeworld: Vast Reaches tells a gripping new story that follows the iconic Kushan Mothership as it is pulled from retirement by its legendary commander Karan S’jet. She is joined by the new Fleet Command, Tyrra Soban, to confront a mysterious new threat.
Players can wishlist Homeworld: Vast Reaches on Steam ahead of the Oct 23rd, 2025 release.
