The inaugural Indie Game Awards 2024 released yesterday as a celebration of the best Indie Games this year, and the winners have been revealed.
As the door has closed on The Game Awards 2024 showcase, the awards ceremony recognized LocalThunk’s Balatro as Indie Game of the Year in that category. However, this year Indie Games have bound together with help from sponsors (including the developer behind PalWorld, PocketPair) to launch their own awards ceremony, the first ever Indie Awards 2024. The event resembled what fans would expect out of a game awards ceremony, including incredible commentary from Indie Developers, and how the development journey went since each game started going into development. In contrast to TGA 2024, the inaugural IGA 2024 did not showcase new upcoming games, they celebrated the developments of this year only. While Balatro basically swept all of TGA 2024’s Indie categories, the Indie Game Awards 2024 celebration paid homage to other Indie Game releases in 2024, and the winners can be seen below (including the development team of each studio).
